Thank you for contacting me regarding the possible use of U.S. military force in response to the recent chemical weapons attack in Syria. As you know, I was against a military strike at this time for a variety of reasons, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns with me on this important issue. As a senior member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), I have been continuously briefed on the situation on the ground in Syria, and continue to closely monitor day-to-day developments.
It is reassuring to know that the Congressman's office is staffed by people who don't know how to react to intelligence-related information, don't forward it on to anyone, and send back an irrelevant form letter. Perhaps "reassuring" is not the right word.
